William James Clavin

Bill was born in Milford, Massachusetts to George and Loretta Clavin. His father was a wool mill worker. His family moved several times on their way to the West Coast. Bill graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Pendleton, OR in 1956. He worked at Pendleton Wool Mill until he joined the army in 1960. While on leave from Basic Training at Fort Ord, CA, Bill met Lynne and they later married in September.

Bill dedicated 24 years of his life to service in the US Army. He honorably served tours in Vietnam, and Korea. Following his retirement as a Sergeant Major (E-9) in 1984, Bill joined the US Postal Service and worked as a mail carrier for 11 years.

Bill enjoying watching and participating in sports throughout his life. As an adult, he loved bowling and golfing. He participated in many tournaments and achieved two 300 games and one hole-in-one. As a youth, Bill loved the Boston Red Sox. After settling in Northern California, he also became a avid fan of the SF Giants, 49ers and Warriors.

Bill loved his family, friends, and animals. He was known for having a good time, laughing at himself and with others. We will miss him and cherish his memory in our lives.
