SANTIAGO A ORTEGA Obituary

In Loving Memory of Santiago Ortega Santiago Ortega, born July 25, 1957, in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, and later a resident of Galt, California, passed away on April 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and the foundation of a strong and beautiful family that continues to carry his legacy.

Santiago was a hardworking man who made the courageous decision to migrate from Mexico to the United States in pursuit of a better life. Through his strength, determination, and sacrifice, he created opportunities for his family and built a life rooted in love and resilience. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Benedicto, Mirella, Ignacio, Santiago, Elvia, and Gabriela. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Daisy and Lily Ortega, Rosalinda Ortega, Rita Ortega, Steven Coronado, Melanie, Noah, and Elijah Martinez, who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

. Santiago found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved being outdoors, taking long walks, and especially caring for his plants. Many of the plants he nurtured provided food for his family, including lemon and lime trees, a variety of chilies, guavas, cacti, squash, onions, tomatoes, grapes, and so much more. His garden was a reflection of his patience, dedication, and the love he put into everything he did.

His garden will continue to feed and remind us of him. His mornings often began early, enjoying a cup of coffee with pan dulce as he started his day. He also enjoyed watching his favorite novelas and spending time relaxing. He was a man with a strong and determined spirit, someone who stood firm in his ways while always carrying deep love for his family. To his grandchildren, he was more than a grandfather—he was a source of warmth, comfort, and love. One grandchild lovingly called him “Olo,” a nickname that came from trying to say “Abuelito,” a name that became a lasting symbol of the special bond he shared with his family. Above all, Santiago loved his family. He remained strong for them through every challenge, offering guidance, strength, and unwavering support. His presence was a constant source of comfort and stability. Though he will be deeply missed, Santiago Ortega’s love, strength, and legacy will live on through the family he cherished so dearly. Rest in peace.
