Robert (Bob) Lee King
Robert (Bob) Lee King passed from this life on October 18, 2022. He was born on
August 16, 1930 in Bloomington, Indiana to Orville Lee King and Violet Faye (Roberts) King. During the war the family moved many times. In 1947 Bob graduated from Loogootee High School and immediately joined the Navy serving on a troop transport, the USS Fremont and a submarine, the USS Tigrone as an electrician. After serving four years, he was working at Indiana Bell (AT&T) in Chicago and was asked to go to Alaska to work on the “Drew Line” constructing “Test Towers”, working from Fort Yukon to the Aleutian Islands at Cold Bay, Alaska for four years. After leaving Alaska, he worked again in Chicago but later followed his family to Glendale, CA. Later on he finally ended up in Lodi, CA. There he met Joyce Yvonne Dozier and married her with her 3 children Stacey, Elton and Rodney Carnes on December 3, 1976. After their marriage they lived in Galt for the remaining 45 years.
Bob was a wonderful Christian man who served the Lord at the Church of Christ in Lodi and Galt for many years.
Preceding him in death was his mother and father, brother Bill King and wife Fran, his nephew Monty King, stepson Rodney Leroy Carnes, step granddaughter Gina Reno and all of his aunts and uncles.
Surviving him are his wife Joyce King, stepson Elton E. Carnes IV, wife Gayle and granddaughters Savannah, Stacey Marie Andrews and husband Eric and grandsons Sean Schwedhelm, Michael Schwedhelm and wife Stefanie and great granddaughter Elizabeth Jolene and granddaughter Nicole Schwedhelm.
A memorial for Bob will be held on October 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Church of Christ in Galt.
