Myra Rodriguez Obituary

Myra  was born in Lodi, Ca on 02-02, 1954.  She never said February 2nd...she always liked to say 02..02 !  Myra also loved the fact that she shared her birthday with her Aunt Lois Gifford and her twin brother Uncle Louis Pullen.  Myra grew up in Galt, California.  She attended Galt Elementary where she met her future husband, during the 6th grade.  She also befriended Judy Bauman and Judy Johnson in kindergarten and got to be hauled around town in Judy Js mom’s big Cadillac. They remained friends forever.  Myra and I both attended Galt High, Myra graduating one year after I did.  Myra grew up active in sports, not quite a tomboy but tough enough to compete with her brother and all the rest of the local boys.  She worked at Mar Val Market,  but spent most of her younger years hanging out at the Galt pool where Rosemary Lanza and Gladys Brown kept an eye on her, Luana Listini, Judy Bauman, Kathy Lanza and the other “YOUTS”.   They spent their summers there swimming all day and running to “The Curve” for their essential snacks.  Myra loved our small town high school.  It was more social fun than educational because with only a town of 3000, everyone knew everybody and their business.  Cruising the Lincoln Way 11 block drag  with Nina Pantoja and Susan Foster was a weekly highlight for her.  Going to the Big Gym at Galt High to watch her future brother-in- law Felix Ortiz play basketball on Tuesdays and Fridays was a treat, because he was a superstar and it got her out of babysitting her little brother, Steven.  For crazy fun they would go to much larger Lodi, except when Susan's car wasn't  running  [
