MICHAEL DAVID POCOROBA

Michael D Pocoroba, age 41, resident of Galt, passed away on Thursday February 29th, 2024.

Mike was born on June 24th, 1982, to Brenda Grames in Stockton California. After Mike graduated from Lincoln High school, he went to study at Consumnes River College and then transferred to Chico State University. Mike earned his BA in sociology from Chico in 2021 along with his good friend Kate Runge.

Mike was a pet lover who had cat and dog paw print tattoos to remember his pets. His favorite cat was Toby, a cat that demanded water from the bathtub faucet and would jump up the hallway switches to turn the lights on and off. His other companions were Fred (childhood dog), Missy, Willie (his kayak buddy), princess, kilo, lady, Carmel and others.

Mike enjoyed kayaking, fishing, house decorating, swimming, puzzles, Ru Paul drag race, judge Judy and house projects.

In 2011, Mike met Juan Garcia in Lodi California. They filed domestic partnership that same year. During the 13-year relationship, the couple enjoyed traveling, road trips, watching tv together, camping, and enjoying each other’s company.  Together, they explored: New York City, the Grand Canyon, Zion national park, Oregon, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Yahualica Jalisco. Mike and Juan got married on December 27th, 2023.

Mike had his own business: cleaning houses and helping his clients with house projects. Mike’s clients were also his friends. He was always friendly with everyone he met.

Mike was predeceased by his grandfather Lynn Kenneth Grames. He is survived by his husband Juan Garcia, mother Brenda Grames, father Christopher ward, Grandmother Sandra Grames, brother Christopher B Ward, sister Jennifer Jess, sister Valerie Rile, niece Marissa Quartararo, his nephew Peyton Jess and many other friends and family. He will always be remembered as happy, friendly, outgoing and loving.

A viewing will be held at Ben Salas funeral home (149 fourth street, Galt) on Tuesday March 12th, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm. Mike’s remains will be cremated and he will be buried at the Galt-Arno cemetery located at 14180 Joy drive during the first two weeks of May.
