Michael Thomas Cooney, loving father and granddad, was a long time resident of Herald, California. He was born November 23, 1949 in Caterham, Surrey, England. He lost his battle with mesothelioma on December 19, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

Michael Thomas Cooney, loving father, and grandad, was a long time resident of Herald, California. He was born November23, 1949, in Caterham, Surrey, England. He lost his battle with mesothelioma on December 19, 2025 at home surrounded by his family.

He loved camping, cruising with his family, gardening and doing projects around the house. He enjoyed watching British murder mysteries with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rebecca, daughters Jennifer (Dekan) Zeller, Valerie (Russell) Barton and son Patrick (Kristina) Cooney.  He has seven surviving grandchildren, Erik Hjalmar Zeller, Mazie Eileen Barton, Michael Joseph Barton, Henry Barton, Dekan Anders Zeller, Michael Patrick Cooney and Jensson Cormac Zeller. 

He was preceded in death by daughter Amanda and grandson Sidney Michael Zeller.

His December 23rd burial was attended by family at the Galt Cemetery in Galt, California.
