Karen Marie Tapia

Karen Marie Tapia was born on March 1, 1953, in San Francisco, California. She
passed away on February 24, 2023, at the age of 69 at Lodi Memorial Hospital, Lodi
CA.
She is survived by her sister Katherine Martin, her son Robert “Rob” Tapia (Elena),
daughters Janet Bedal, and Pamela Ficke, grandchildren, Jean-Luc Bedal (Ariel),
Jennifer Jasmann (Jarred), Rebecca Tapia, Zoey, Peyton, and Sophia Kelley, Emma
Houston, great-grandchildren Dean and William Jasmann, and many nieces and
nephews.
Karen was raised in the Marina district of San Francisco where she graduated from
Galileo High School in 1971. She held a few different jobs in her lifetime but the one job
that was dearest to her heart was that of a mother, grandmother, and great-
grandmother.
Karen moved to the Galt area in 1984 with her two children Robert and Janet, living in
Herald then in Wilton where she had her daughter Pamela, and for the last ten years
she lived in Galt with her daughter Pamela.
Karen enjoyed gardening and had a good size garden every spring for many years. She
also enjoyed a good game of Bingo where she could find it. Her daughter Janet
accompanied her many times and enjoyed spending time with her mother doing
something she enjoyed. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and going to or
watching videos of their events that they were involved in. She loved video chatting with
her great-grandson’s and loved it when they came to visit. She was also an avid reader,
she would go to the library to get books and then she was introduced to Kindle and was
always reading or watching TikTok’s . She also loved to watch Big Brother.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Martin, her brother William
Martin Jr., and her sister Karla Quiel.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be
made to American Lung Association.
