IRVIN JAMES NIX

Irvin James Ni

June 13th 1927 – December 23rd, 2024

Irvin was born on June 13th, in a house in Herald, CA. Two days later he was taken home to Wilton where his parents, Jim and Esther lived. He was to spend the first 18 years there, first going to Dillard Elementary and EG High he excelled at FFA, his senior year he was the Vice President. 

With the help of his father Jim, Irvin had a small milk dairy all through his high school years.

After graduating he entered the Army and was soon transferred to the Army Air

Corp (now the US Air Force) where he became a mechanic on B-29 airplanes.                   

When WWII came to an end Irvin was released from duty and returned home to work on his dairy.

He married Helyne Economy of Wilton in early 1948, then he built his house across the road where he resided for the next 76 years. Irvin and Helyne had 2 kids, Linda and Jimmy. After getting married he went to work at Signal Depot, later called Sacramento Army Depot. He and Helyne divorced in 1954.

In 1956 Irvin married Joan Aldridge Mendoza. He became the Step-father to Gil, Steve, Kathy, and Marty Mendoza. In 1966 Irvin and Joan had a daughter Wendi. They were a happy family with a lot of fishing and camping trips over the years.

Once the kids grew up Irvin and Joan created a wood working business, they named JIN Products where they made and sold numerous types of wooden toys. They went to craft shows all over Northern California. This came to an end with the passing of Joan in May 2002.

Irvin was preceded in death by his father Jim, mother Esther, brother George and wife Joan.

He is survived by sons Gil (Pam), Steve (Betty), Jim (Pat), daughters Linda (Bob), Kathy (Craig), Marty, and Wendi.

Grand kids Jim, Rich, Dan, Allison, Kristina, Brian, Heidi, Jaimee, Courtney, Chad and Kelly. With many great and great - great grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held on January 8th at Irvin’s lifelong place of worship, the Wilton Bible Church beginning at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at 12:30 at the Elk Grove Cemetery, 8540 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove, CA
