Howard Lemke. Howard Lemke, 82, of Galt, California, passed away on September 30, 2023. He was born on January 31, 1941, in Bismarck, North Dakota. Howard was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Howard had a rich and varied life, filled with unique experiences and interests. He spoke German when he started school and had to learn English. He served in the Army for 7 years as a medical technician and truck driver, despite being color blind. He particularly enjoyed his time in Alaska, where he spent 2 years in Fairbanks and Port Whittier. After his time in the Army, Howard embarked on a successful career as a Dental Equipment Repair Technician, dedicating 40 years to his profession. He took great pride in his work and was known for his expertise and attention to detail, along with his sense of humor. Outside of work, Howard had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. He always had a joke to tell and a story to share. He enjoyed frequenting the Galt Flea Market and had a passion for black powder shooting. Howard also loved his Harley motorcycle and spending time riding. He was an avid gardener and found solace in nurturing his plants. Hunting, fishing, and camping were among his favorite outdoor activities. Howard was actively involved in the Moose Lodge and enjoyed helping with the Boy Scouts. He had a deep love for animals, especially his dogs Buddy and Taco. Howard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Lemke, who was the love of his life. They were married for 45 years before cancer took Linda from him. He also mourned the recent passing of his brother, Gary Lemke. Howard is survived by his daughter, Heather Lemke, who lovingly cared for him at home, and his son, Jason Lemke, who was there to fix projects. He is also survived by his sister, Gwen Baker. A memorial service to celebrate Howard's life will be held on October 28th at 10 a.m. at Horizon Community Church, located at 446 Fairway Dr., Galt, CA 95632. Howard Lemke will forever be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, and his love for his children and friends. May he rest in peace.
