ANGELINE BRODSTON Obituary

Angeline Brodston, 91, of Lodi, California, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2023. She was born on March 5, 1932, in Emmons County, near Linton and Napoleon, North Dakota. Angie was a loving wife, mother, sister and friends to many, and she will be missed by many. Angie lived a long and eventful life traveling to and living in many places.

Angie lived her childhood in North Dakota and after graduating high school she set upon her entrepreneurial life. Partnering with her Dad, she bought some flax seed, leased some land and grew the crop, to finance the purchase of her first car. Shortly after, she became a phone operator with Ma Bell (AT&T) in Bismarck, North Dakota. She worked for Ma Bell for about 10 years, during which she transferred to Miles City, Montana. In Miles City, she met the love of her life Kenneth Brodston and they were married in 1954. They remained married for 39 years until Ken’s passing in 1993. In 1959, Angie and Ken, started a successful Apartment rental business, where they built up to 5 separate buildings and maintained them for over 50 years. Some of Angie’s and Ken’s family had moved to Rio Vista and Lodi California. Over the years, they were snowbirds spending the winters in California, as well as, Tacoma, Washington. Family brought them to these areas, where they worked with family as well as opening their own body shop Krinkle Korner’s in Gig Harbor, Washington. During the summer of 2021, Angie left Miles City for the last time, moving in with her daughter Julie in Tacoma, before moving to California in 2022 to be closer to her sisters and son John.

Angie, through her keen sense of business, set herself up well to live the life that she did. It allowed her to be a snowbird and to go on many trips with her sisters and other family over the years. Most of you know, that Angie spent many nights in a Bingo Hall. She had a special love of Bingo and she was very lucky, that she was able to call Bingo many, many, times. She was very friendly and easily made friends wherever she happened to be. Living in many places, she had so many dear friends everywhere. When she wasn’t playing Bingo, you might find her at one of many bars, where she enjoyed the company of any number of friends, listening to all genres of music and dancing the night away. She really had a love for dancing. Angie also had a love for learning. She was always reading books, newspapers and magazines. She bookmarked, highlighted and made note of so many things that she was interested in and shared what she learned with everyone.

Angie loved her family and friends. She spent a lot of time talking on the phone, taking an interest and remaining in their lives even with the many miles that separated them. She used to call her Mom on a daily basis, to check in and say hi. It wasn’t just her Mom, she often called her closest family and friends the same.

Angie is survived by her daughter Julie Wells and late husband Donald Wells from Tacoma, Washington, son John Brodston and wife Diana from Galt, California, her step-son KL Brodston and wife Jody whom she loved dearly, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Lee Richter from Bismarck, North Dakota and her sisters Louisa Campbell, Lila Baumgartner and Lee Reich from Lodi, California.
